We are delighted to welcome Women in Transport Members for an exclusive ‘Audience with…’ Valerie Davidson, CEO of SPT.

Valerie Davidson is Chief Executive of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), leading the largest Regional Transport Partnership in Scotland. The region accounts for more than 2.2m residents and more than 70% of all public transport journeys in Scotland.

A qualified accountant (CPFA), Valerie has worked in both public and professional services for 37 years, half of which has been with SPT in its various guises.  Prior to this, Valerie was Deputy Director of CIPFA (Scotland) and held various positions in London Boroughs and local authorities in South East England.

Current key priorities for Valerie include development of a new metropolitan transport network for the region through Clyde Metro; driving the completion of the Subway Modernisation programme; and leading bus reform across the west of Scotland. She has overseen the successful delivery of the Regional Transport Strategy 2023 – 2037 working with key stakeholders to make the west of Scotland a well-connected place with active, liveable communities and accessible, vibrant centres facilitated by high quality, sustainable and low carbon transport shaped by the needs of all.
